two-step

leaning into
steps that skim
sliding over
dusty boards
whisking
past the eyes
that watch: but do they see?
spinning round
in the midst
of noise and sound and
warm that rushes
through
around
between
us two
lightly
clasping
trembling with our
hands embracing yet
our bodies pressed
the length of leg
and hip
and chest
could we be one?
and two no more
for you spin me
and I spin you
and we spin we
across the floor--
and then the music
stops--
we spin on and on.
