Waking Moment

There we lay side by side, and she has yet to wake.
Face to face, I can feel her warm breath on my cheek.
The sweet familiar scent of her perfume faintly beckons me to wake.
I lazily open my eyes to see her before me and my heart flutters.
She is so beautiful.
I just gaze as all my senses awaken to drink her in.
Every part of me down to the core of my soul wants to reach out to embrace
but I dare not move for fear of disturbing her.
Yet again, my love for her is even stronger then the morn before
and the feelings are so overwhelming that my chest begins to ache.

One solitary tear rolls down my cheek.
For this moment I am happier than I thought humanly possible.

The sharp buzzing of an alarm clock pierces my ear and jolts my senses.
My eyes flick open and a trained hand hits the snooze button.
I roll over to gaze upon her again but she is nowhere to be seen.
Suddenly I realize that I am now awake.

One solitary tear rolls down my cheek.
For this moment I cling to a memory.
