Without You

This morning was bright and beckoned me to wake
There wasn't a cloud in the sky and the birds were out
The air was crisp and the day brand new
But somehow the mornings are never cheery since you left

I filled my mind with work to pass the time
The boss is happy because I accomplished much
I got a promotion and a raise
But somehow it all seems pointless since you left

Since I had nowhere else to go, I went back to the house
The furniture is as cozy as ever and the fire is warm
The cats tried to comfort me
But somehow it is not a home since you left

I continue on because stopping is not an option
I'm young, healthy, and not bad looking
My career looks bright and successful
But somehow is doesn't seem like much of a life since you left

How's life without me?
Never mind. I don't think I want to know.
