dead in the water

Some little girls
grow up dreaming
about princes
on white horses
As they get older
they go out into the real world
and realize
little by little
that the armor
is not usually shiny
so they try to polish it
til thier hands are calloused
and never do see thier reflections
and by now they are grown
and have learned the truth
and settle for toads
