The Moon Smiles Down

Run with me
through carpets of amber
needles,
soft and aromatic underfoot.
Umbrella pines
keep the watery blue sky
from our eyes.

Chase the sun
through green unsteady
blades,
and throw me to the ground.
Towering grasses
keep our privacy as clouds
race each other, overhead.

Greet the night,
through silver-jade heavy
eyes,
and untangle your words from mine.
Protective arms
shelter me from myself
and the moon smiles down, finally content.
