The Temple Door

The temple door ajar tonight
That beggars might just learn to pray,
But my sweet sin is one delight
That bands of angels cannot stay.

The sacred jewel, her ruby bud
Now swelled in holy watered bliss,
Baptizes me with heated flood
And grants redemption with a kiss.

Sharp incense sears each ragged breath
With wafting messages divine,
Gone trembling with each little death
She offers up to nature's shrine.

Now drenched in love the silky cleft
Behold! the oil-anointed Grail
That this poor pilgrim's shameless theft
Did seek, his spirit to regale.

My frothy sacrifice once spent,
Now drops of dew upon a rose.
Accepting my soul's sacrament
Her sweet pink-tinted petals close.
