Lethargy

There once was a low puddle that I muddled
and bathed in....

     (Oh, that this sullied flesh
      this mortal coil
      this teenage angst
      would arise, swallow me whole
      Lethargy, it pulls me in
      Drowns me deep
My mood takes a dark and devilish turn
      My thoughts spin so tight,
      Knot so thoroughly
All I can do is sleep....

      Fleeting, yet un-nerving
How I long for ignorance and the bliss that it would bring)

But today,
I am too tired to dream up misery
Too cracked to look for fissures
As time drags us,
Down these lineal lives
Cracking, creaking, weathering...

oh, but you -
tingling thoughts that wrap me in a cloud of
       lingering lust....
(as I fret over freckles that no longer fade)
You - I take by choice.
