Love on the net???

I stare at the screen
The cursor blinking tamely
My heart pounding not-so-tamely...
it feels like it's in my throat...

I can't believe you've typed what you did...
I read it twice more to be certain.
You never can be too careful on the 'net...

I type *LOL* and hit enter
Holding my breath, maybe you are just teasing me...
Love can be a game on the computer
But not when you've been as lonely for so long as me...
Got to remind myself continuously that words can be deceiving

You respond, "It wasn't meant as a joke, I've fallen in love with you...
"Real love, not 'cyber luv'"
I never meant for it to happen, but sometimes it sneaks up on you
and grabs your heart to squeeze, makes you feel like your having
  a heart attack...

I'm scared to believe what I'm reading,
still unsure of whether to trust,
My heart insists I at least try...
"I love you too" I type,,then hit enter
and I realize I DO love you
That love is often scary, not just because it's on the internet
but it's scary to realize, it's your heart you can't trust...

I'll take pleasure in the moment
If nothing else, it'll be a lasting memory in my heart
