Chemiatric Lovers

Of mystery there's none that can compare,
How we did meet and joining choose to stay
Like bonded atoms orbiting in air
Attracted and repelled day after day.

The union of us two is like a burning
Out of which heat and water are released
Sometimes the pool shows tepid lack of yearning
As if reaction had completely ceased.

But 'neath the slag and tarnish of the years
The grand retort of passion boils within.
So many times distilled, love mixed with tears,
We, soul to soul, are reborn skin to skin.

So two old lovers still ingratiate
With holy chemistry insatiate.
