Surmounting the Duration

Oh what the mind can do with a few

words and a little imagination

I have not seen you, nor been by your

side

Yet I am, every night, and always

We dance together under the stars and by the light of the moon

to our own melody

There is no one but us, the stars surrounding

and the moon to light the path

I look up at you and smile because I know

you are there

And because I know you

I know your warmth

I know your beauty

I know your delicacy

I know your passion

I can always draw upon the feeling of

your arms around me

of our hearts in beating rhythm

I love you, so much that nothing I could say

could ever bring justice to the feeling

I long to kiss your lips and run my

hands through your soft hair

I love it, because it is you, it is a part of you

I think of you always, and imagine you

with me.

I imagine the way your eyes light up when

you laugh, the creases near your eyes and

cheeks when you smile

your emotion, the way you feel even the slightest thing.

The way I loved to feel myself enfolded in your arms, and you in mine

I think of that summer night long ago when we first glanced around the previously unlit corridor of our physical love

And how we consecrated it, vowing to be together,

you my love and I yours

I imagine your soft, sweet lips on mine and the feeling it gave me

thinking that nothing could be this good

it was as if we had found a secret key to escape the world

that no one else had found

it was special to us, because we had discovered it on our own, we needed no guide and no design

because we had our own

I think of this, and all you mean to me

I imagine you and I wish I were there.
