The Storm

Loneliness grips my being
day by day like a cold rain
pouring from clouds of black
the symbol of my pain
But something magical happens
whenever you're around
and for one fleeting moment
I stand upon dry ground
Your presence is the sunlight
warming my tear stained face
The rivers of depression
are gone without a trace
My heart an empty canvas
once so cold and blue
now by the touch of your hand
alive with vibrant hues
The flowers are your beauty
your scent a soothing breeze
Your smile and your laughter
the birdsong in the trees
The joy you bring gives me wings
to soar upon the sky
and I long to hold you
forever by my side
I start to let you know
then he walks through the door
There's passion in your eyes now
I hear the thunder roar
