Three Missing Chairs

I was born in the year 1958 so I've only had the privilege of seeing the end
of the Millennium but what an ending. When I mentioned earlier the irony of
the end of the millennium with the loss of the John F. Kennedy Sr., Jacqueline
and JFK Jr., it all seems to define this millennium age thing to a perfect note -

…for one brief shining moment, here in Camelot

Like John Sr. we entered this age with high hopes, wanting to conquer every
domain and push any envelope ever imaginable. We wanted to be like Jackie with
quiet dignity and the unflappable aplomb that we needed to maintain the air of
"business as usual" even when all around us the walls were tumbling down about
our feet. And we needed to be like John Jr. with the independent attitude to
succeed but maintain a youthful appearance while the hounds came pounding at
the door for any crumbs that may fall.

John Sr. was shot for his liberal ideas, I guess he pushed one envelope too
many. Jackie lost her quiet aplomb to a disease that has no regard for dignity.
And John Jr. takes our youthful vigor with him.

I will personally miss them all and like Dr. Martin L. King said before his
untimely demise, we will get to the promise land… but these three won't be
there. I will miss them.
