equation

take a final glancing look at your man
kneeling here with his sword in hand
and understand
that behind all the walls and waterfalls
there's something left
i cried of theft
when your heart was set
in stone and yet set free
if i could be
something other than right
this time
i would
i'd rather not fight
i'd rather just be fitted with a darkened cloak
and gaze aloft at my own reflection
redirect some mortal blows not meant for you
not meant to be thrown
take another backwards step
and shy behind
a granite pillar
i've turned my blade on butterflies
and stomped my boot on caterpillars
destroyed a living monument
of clarity
and i, in time, have walked the line
refined my best
for charity
i'm living now
i'm dying now
without the lack of insecurity
i once had known
my eyes have grown
sore and tired
and tightly wired shut because i know
the best you are is just the best you show
the best i am
returns sometimes
and sometimes leaves without a warning
a complex remedy
would be a nagging conscience for my friends
and for my love
a coal field dove
a raincoat vendor for the storms i'm chasing
i can't relate well
to anyone exactly like myself
could you?
still find that i'm divisible by two
at least
