The eX-files

just when i was enjoying reading your book
when i began to notice marks written on the corners of your pages
some little notes, some pictures of hand-written curves and strokes
curiosity got me to investigate them into more detail
like "how these marks were related to your context?"
and you tell me to keep reading because you have a wonderful story to tell
but oh poor, stubborn me coz i skipped thru your pages
and i saw this borrower’s card tucked at the back cover
names were listed
most were written in pencil
some significant others in (permanent?)ink
and they had been sloppy while reading you until due
and that simply explained some missing pages and creases
i studied carefully your wrinkles
for you may still have regrets of not pleasing them well with your content
i scrutinized every torn page
for you may still hate them to return you to the shelves just like that
as if i didn't feel a twinge during the process
and while i probe deeper and deeper into your history
more and more i got lost on the interplay of your book’s “material”s
