Michael's Bud

She bends to pluck a red rose from her love tree
when a shimmer of sweet sunshine
dances off her most beloved bud.
It catches her eye
and she wonders at the beauty of it.

Petals softer than newborns skin
and thorns that inflict no pain.
Leaves that glitter like precious jade
as dew falls from heaven to kiss the new day.

This is her healthiest bud,
the cornerstone of her love tree,
and the center of her affections.
She loves this special one
by far more than any other
and watches it grow more lovely and more treasured
each passing day.

The evening moonlight bathes her bud
as the stars shine for it alone.
The night is cool and peaceful
and caresses this precious one in
the breeze of adoration.
