Overnight

he didn't hear me before midnight
it was me he was missing
and he wrote me a love song that night
while i was deeply sleeping

he sang before a handful of diamonds
as if his tunes would move them
for the vast skies to paint my reflections
to fetch me from my soft bed

that is the first song for me
and i want more
he's composing songs for me
but does not know

i will sleep tight again tonight
i will sleep on his lullabye

this midnight he will travel miles again
and sing it with wonders
he will be cold and longing on that train
while i'm warm under covers

you all know that i am not good at rhyme
today i'll do something i seldom try
coz his love is just working overnight
by my side or not it never gets tired
