TWISTER

TWISTER

The sky seemed calm, full of music, bright and blue; On fresh greenery
and blossoms there lay jewels of glistening dew, as we awoke to a
melodious peaceful morn with nothing but harmonious love
tugging at our heartstrings, with no hint of trouble
anywhere to be seen or heard; nothing by which
we might be warned of the Hell that was
to rip away our love, devour us
spin our lives out of control,
                     bringing gloom that was
                        to make life
                           suck.
Growling, springing upon us with sudden, thunderous ruin
Laying waste our arbor in which we two were cooing
like doves, thinking our love was warm and safe,
       cuddling together, contemplating endless
         happiness on that glistening sun-gold
             morn fresh with hope, clean
                as a gentle Spring
                      shower
Whence, then, did snarling, angry hate come, touching down
on our hearts, causing them to splinter and break apart
before the wild rage of an infernal monster, bent on
blackening our heaven, roaring down upon us
              leaving destruction so sudden,
                 so bitter in its
                    twisted
                     wake?
A twister made of our childish conceit and selfish anger
that would blow us promptly to bits, leaving scattered
wreckage of mutual recrimination and regrets,
Our faith in each other and the opposite
           sex gone sour, involving our
              families in suffering
                 caused by our
                  childish
                   raging
                     fits.
It all just went to show that the love which we thought had been solid and strong, based on mutual trust
Was laid on a shallow foundation, as defective as it was hollow.
In the end, had our love been really lasting and true
Our behavior might have more agreed
with what we said instead of
              crushing our hopes
               beneath an outburst
                of emotions and
                  a tempest
                   of words
