Danced in the rain last night

She danced in the rain last night

Beneath the street lights

The solo performer on stage

Curtsied to the swaying trees

With hands held to the skies

She danced her sacred dance

Beckoning the heavenly drops

For another cup of hope

Her mantra:

Here, drink I your drops

Dreaming intoxication

Crying refuge

Pleading from torment

I beseech you

Rescue me

From the pain not seen

Despair

Steel me

From wanting, coveting

That which is not mine

Drug me

In beautiful thoughts

Sedate me

With colorful visions

Make me forget

Wash this hurt

The blood

Curb this screaming pain

Of a ruptured heart

Bequeath me

Tranquility in all waking moments

And deepest of sleep

Grant me

Sanctuary!

So she danced in the rain last night

Tiny drops splattered on her skin

Enveloping the dancer on her knees

Soaking her wet, caressing as they flow

From the tips of her clasped fingers

To the wet ground

A cold, numb feeling in her soul

She danced in the rain last night and smiled

For a moment

When rain and tears became one

All was well
