blame it on the ivy

blame it on the ivy

i go to the places we went
where i could still hear you
i go to the places were we left ourselves behind
where i could still taste you
they are empty and hollow
 there's no trace of you

i don't walk to your room by mistake anymore
i don't sigh at the places we made love anymore
i don't feel you here anymore

this should be liberating !
finally rid of your mindcontrol
     heartcontrol
i could think of the guy next door when
i walk by the japanese tea garden
instead of the two of us
i'm allowed to, now

but you come back at the weirdest times:
       when i'm making spaghetti-o's
   or getting my hair cut
       when i listen to gorecki
   or email fanatically
and i realize
maybe you're not so far away after all
