In the park

Sitting on that same cold park bench,
elbows on my knees.
The shadow of grass dance on leather shoes,
one pant legs' dented pleat wavers in the breeze.
My memory's snap shots of wonderful smiles flash in and out, then stall
up against the frame of a tear drops' splash and bead on her pale caramel skin.

A snag in my vision's peripheral lifts my eyes-
In the creek, an empty plastic bread loaf bag
weaves fluidly past the craned neck of an expecting
to-be-fed duck, careens past little surface jutting
rocks downstream, and disapears around the bend.
