Pssssssst...

Julianne!

I was moved by your poem "addiction three". I understand the feeling quite well. My own belief is that if you "fall out" of love with someone, you never really loved them to begin with. So, all the loves you ever have, if they are true, remain forever. It is circumstances that change (and the hearts of others)... But to deny that love remains after a relationship has changed is to deny the fullness of living that loving someone brings...

As far as the poem itself, I loved the imagery of "that unidentified question mark / that hangs on your tongue / that rings the instant message box..." Good work...

Well, I survived Thanksgiving. It actually went pretty well.
I got to meet my sister's new boyfriend and we really
bonded. They dated in junior high and then we moved to the
Hill Country. They lost touch over the years and then the other day my sister got an e-mail from him. So now they're
talking marriage! We had Thanksgiving at my grandparents'
house in Bridgeport and Jeff played his acoustic guitar and
I sang everything from "Sweet Home Alabama" to "As Tears Go
By". It's weird because right before Jeff e-mailed Autumn about a month ago she was saying she was going to marry her
high school sweetheart, who I thoroughly detest. I told her I would approve if she married Jeff Jackson and she just laughed and said she hadn't seen him in years and would probably never see him again. Weird, huh? Must be my Aquarian foresight!
What's even MORE bizarre is that my mom has fallen in love for the first time in her life! She'll probably get married sometime next summer. She's been married twice and has always had boyfriends but she said this is the first time she has truly fallen in love. So maybe there's hope for me, after all.
I have broken things off with Jay and am rereading Dr. Laura's book. No one in this world will ever hand me my self-esteem. I have to help myself to self-respect and dignity. Instead of doing the instant gratification thing, I need to start holding out for a much greater reward.
Got a newsletter from my daughter's adoptive parents. She is too pretty and self-assured to be two years old! She'll turn two on December 8th. She has tons of beautiful blonde hair (which is kinda strange 'cause my hair is raven)and big blue eyes. I can't wait to see her newest home video.
I'm going to Hasting's tonight to analyze Donovan's and Angel's natal charts. I'll let ya'll know what i find out.
Thanks to everyone who commented on my newest submissions! I was looking at an old notebook last night full of things I had written in high school and I was amazed by how truly awful most of it was. I think my writing has improved somewhat over the years. I've certainly had a lot of practice! I might submit some of my really old poems tomorrow or Wednesday just to show ya'll how my writing has evolved these past eight years.
Zoe and Shadygirl, I was wondering if you would e-mail me your mailing addresses so that I could send you both a Christmas card. I was thinking up my Christmas card list last night and I thought of ya'll. Anyone else who wants a Christmas card and a picture of me, you can e-mail me your address at MR50926@swt.edu. I love sending cards and pictures to people.
Here is my belated "Things I'm Thankful For" List:

1. My family.
2. My education.
3. My daughter and her parents.
4. My poetry.
5. The Blender Board and the friends I have made here.
6. That God is a God of Second Chances.
7. My dreams and goals.
8. My mistakes. They have made me who I am.
9. Wal-Mart. Where else can you buy a pair of army camo panties for two bucks???
10. Linda Goodman. GOOBERZ and LOVE SIGNS.

God Bless You All!!!!!

Love,

Uh-oh. I just went to New Submissions to print out some of
my poems and they weren't there anymore! What's the deal???

From: Misti

The reason I'm kinda freaking out is because a lot of the
poems I submitted were from my head and I don't have them
written down. I just bought a new journal for my favorite
poems and so that's why I wanted to print my newest submissions out. Kirk, I'm frantic!

Lizzie,
I just read Our Place and I was impressed. It reminds me
of my first date with my first love, Michael Chase Childers,
a Capricorn-Taurus who branded my heart and soul. We ate dinner at El Chico's in Denton and then we saw "Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael". I didn't want the date to end but he was worried about my curfew. I persuaded him to take me to the
park, anyway. It was October and I was wearing a short-sleeved dress so he let me wear his leather jacket. I can still smell that jacket. I slept with it that night because it smelled of his Obsession cologne. Anyway, at the park we sat on the swings and for me it was symbolic because we were six when we first met. My mom says we used to swing together on the playground. I don't remember that but I wish I did. Now he's in Turkey (he's in the army) and we have lost touch. But I will always think of him and regard him as my first love.
This is kinda off the subject but I love that song "We Were in Love" by Toby Keith. My sister has the tape and I listened to it over and over again. I also like "The Sweetest Thing I've Ever Known" by Juice Newton. I'm glad my sister and mom have found true love. I have so much love in me that I have to believe I will someday find it, too.

ARGHHHH! PLease can someone tell me what you thought of "Hate who You Love" ? Please I'm getting really desperate here. Okay so I'm a newbie but I need to know what you think so I know whether it was a load of shit or not.

You may think that because I'm only 14 I don't know anything about love or hurt but believe me I do!

You'll never know if you like it or diss it if you don't read it!!!
Don't mean to beg for feedback but I am begging. Hum strange.
Don't worry I'm not some teenybopping " Cat on the Mat" poet (though I must admit the poem was written in 10 minutes) and I'd really apreciate some feedback on this. Surely you must all empathize with what it's like when no one will listen to you because of your age. Please don't say you lot are the same.

Hey everyone! Long time no talk!! Hope everyone had a good holiday! (or day at work, in Dee's case...hehe...;-)

Welcome back Crickett!! Hi ZoE, Dee, Kev, Misti, heart, EVERYONE!! It was a wild a crazy vacation! Wow!!! I finally remembered that I am only 21, which is always nice!! ;-) (Especially since I won't be tomorrow, happy almost birthday to me...) No, I had a great time, did alot of stupid things, and really paid for it by getting seriously sick over the weekend, but, it was nice to be free for a while, especially right before this new job in Buffalo starts.

Dee - I'm BACK!!! You are a woman after my own heart, I am a big fan of Maya Angelou, and I have "Phenomonal Woman" on my wall in my bedroom. :-) It is definitely a poem every women should know a few lines by heart!! And you are right about another thing...ZOE, you ARE an amazing woman!!

Dear God, Jenna, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. You and his family and friends are in my prayers, please keep well.

ZoE - The more you say, the better I get to know you, the more you absolutely amaze me!!! You compensate for absolutely everything that could ever be 'lacking' in your child's life, even a turkey!! You truly are amazing!!

heart - I'm back girl! Finally!!! I need to get back on track...I'm all sorts of out of whack right now...;-)

Misti - Girl, hun, ugh, I wish I could just hug ya! I'm glad things are turning up for your mom and sister. When things are good in loved ones lives, it always makes helping yourself easier. I guess because you don't feel as guilty (I'm horrible at feeling guilty for looking out for myself first). I will e-mail you, of course I'd love pictures and cards, are you kidding? I'll be sure to return the favor as well, if you'd like! Please take care of yourself.

As for myself, well, the trip was cancelled and my brother and I got my parent's house all to ourselves for a whole week. We never had less than 20 people in our house at a time, and it got a little out of hand at a few occasions, but it was fun. Lots of friends I haven't seen, including 'the one'. He was over with his girlfriend, whom I happen to like and get along with very well. It is such an odd situation. Anyone ever watch Ally Mcbeal? Well, let's just say, I am Ally (but slightly more sane), and they are georgia and billy...to a tee. I mean, we all get along well, they slept on my extra bed in my bedroom for the entire week!! How do I always get myself into these weirdo situations? Oh well, it's been hard, but easy at the same time. He's back, our bond is stronger than ever, and friendship is working out better than I thought possible. And she is incredible...(I sure as hell would not let my new boyfriend sleep at his ex's house)...aye carumba, that sounds crazy! Anyways, so Thanksgiving was nice, getting away from the tyranny of 'Mom' is always refreshing...and then I spent the weekend sick in bed and John (the "BILLY") and his girlfriend brought me saltines and ginger ale for my tummy...hehe...(I'm telling ya, it's a weird situation)...

Anyways, so now I am back at work, tomorrow is my birthday :-), the big 2-2...and I am supposed to fly up to Buffalo this weekend to start my alter job/life...the winds of change have blown my house DOWN these passed few weeks. Sorry if I've seemed out of it everyone...I'm back now...in full effect...hehe...god help you all.

I missed you all, can't wait to hear from you!!!

Jane H.-

Not to be mean or anything but people giving or not giving feedback on your work has nothing to do with your age. I, too, am only 14 and i have been submitting here since i was 12. I haven't gotten feedback on some of my works and i do know what it feels like, but as a poet i have enough faith in my talent to let others read my work and not care whether they like it or not because it is how i feel and it is what is in MY heart. Sometimes i find that silence is the best answer! Sometimes if you ask for feedback people just say they like it to make you happy. If you are content with your work, let them make the effort to come to you. Then you will know it is for real. And i am sure that almost everyone here reads each and every poem (i know i do). We give everyone a fair shot. I have been here for over 2 years and over half the works ever sent here i loved and (in 2 years) I have commented on MAYBE not even 20 or 30. But believe me your poetry does leave an impact on someone out there don't doubt what comes naturally from your heart.

And last but not least, welcome to the Loveblender.

From: Kirk, Blender-Keeper

Hey Gang

Well, another issue's here. I came really close to losing last month's comments. I've decided to try to leave some of last month's comments when I reset the Blender Board, so as to create less disruption in the flow of conversation. Unfortunately, I goofed with a file name, and almost lost all of last month's comments. Luckily, I had a trick that helped: I came into work (where I had recently checked the comment board), unplugged my PC from the Net, found a cached copy of the Blender Board, and used that for the Digest comments. (Deevaa, I think I may have lost some of your comments in particular, my apologies.)

So here's another issue, reflecting all my preferences and idiosyncracies.

Also, I wouldn't mind getting some feedback on my latest entry on the new submissions page, The Loss of Loss. I experimented with some HTML on that one, and I think I like the interplay of layout and content.

From: Shadygirl fading_shade@hotmail.com

Hi everyone...

Kirk, I read "The loss of loss"...and I have to say, I really do like it. It is sooo sad. The only slight criticism I might have is that I don't think the italicized words are necessary...they add flavor, but to a poem that may be just as sweet, if not sweeter, more simple. If that makes any sense...I just found myself paying more attention to how I was going to read it(whether across or in columns) than to the emotion.

Y'all, I just changed my calendar to December and noticed not only is Xmas in 25 days, and my best friend's wedding is in 20 days, but I only get two more paychecks until both of those occasions!!! AAAAAHH!!! Can you say STRESSED OUT???

From: Isolde

Kirk -

You asked for feedback about your poem "the loss of loss", so here is my humble opinion:

I liked the poem very much and thought it contained some beautiful word choices and imagery ("the separate contentments we now savor" - very nice). Excellent title, very intriguing, representative of the thrust of the poem, and a powerful image in and of itself.

I liked the concept of the two columns, with the stanza of the main poem and the parenthetical comment upon that stanza side by side. I thought this device worked very well, particularly with the first and last stanzas.

In the first stanza, I could really "see" the image of her at the window, ready to give it another try. The parenthetical image seemed to have a direct connection to the words of that stanza....sort of an example or illustration of what that stanza referred to. I got a similar feeling from the last stanza. The parenthetical struck me as a beautiful word image reflecting the sentiment of the last stanza.

However, I had more difficulty connecting the parenthetical for the second stanza to the words of that stanza. I had to really think about it and reread it a few times to "get" the relationship of the words and the parenthetical, and even then the connection seemed less powerful, less immediate. It broke the flow a bit, when I was reading it. I liked the "main" poem section of the second stanza, but thought the parenthetical portion could be stronger.

(Btw, did you intend to use "prelude" twice in stanza two? I also reread that bit a few times, trying to grasp the reason...)

Overall, I thought this was a very good poem, and a unique and intriguing device.

There is this other female poet I greatly admire but I can't spell her name. She wrote For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow
Is Enuf.
I also loved Hrts Comin Atcha by Brandi. What a bright little girl!
Donovan and Angel,
I went to Hasting's last night and researched your charts. I'll tell you what I found out tomorrow, so stay tuned! I have to go back tonight and research the chart of the woman Donovan is in love with. I already believe it's a very favorable match because Libra and Pisces are the most hard-core romantics of the zodiac! My sister, who is a Libra, was in love with a Pisces guy for many years and they almost married. Now she's head over heels for a Capricorn.

From: Isolde

Kirk-

Regarding your Ramble in the December Digest:
Congrats to you and Mo on one year, quite a milestone. I wish you both continued happiness together.

As to your disagreement with Plato's concept of true love, I guess partially agree. I think there can be more than one "Right Person" for each of us, if that means a person that we could fall deeply in love with and happily spend the rest of out lives with. But I also think that there is the possibility of a level beyond that, of a 'completely right person' with whom the bond is so perfect that it surpasses what is usual, and that there is probably only one of these out there for any of us, which means we rarely find them. It is the idea of this rare and special bond that I envision when I read Plato's words.

On the topic of settling down, of making that big "choice", my experience has led me to believe that this is a bit like walking a razor's edge. It is so easy to be torn between the temptation to settle for what we have, what we know, what is safe and secure, and the equal temptation to keep looking endlessly for someone who is even more perfect than what we see in front of us. It can be difficult to see clearly in the midst of it all, and hindsight often appears to be 20/20.

I have tended to make poor choices along this line in my own life, for both of the reasons listed above, so I wish you more success than I have managed. May you have wisdom enough to look deeply, vision enough to see clearly, and courage enough to choose decisively when the time is right.

Oh, and thanks again most sincerely for this wonderful place you have created. It must be gratifying to know how many lives your endeavors have touched in a positive way. Kudos to you, Kirk...

Thanks for the comments Isolde, when people complain about the lack of in-depth poetic analysis on the Board, they're probably hoping to see more posts like yours....

The italics of the center section where my least favorite part, actually, they're there mostly to keep up the shape of the poem.

Some books used to have these little descriptors on the margin, summaries of paragraphs and what not, and that was part of the effect I was going for.

Kirk~ I am not generally one to offer advice or critique poems because I am of the feeling that peoples' opinions are so diverse (as are their tastes in art )that I would merly be adding to the confusion by doing so,also, I hardly feel qualified, but since you asked about "LOSS of LOSS", I will this once...I really LOVED it! LOL OK...here it goes...I found the poem to be crisp, clear to the point and it was the parenthetical phrases that gave this effect...I saw nothing at all wrong with the use of the parenthetical phrase in the second stanza,it offered balance...I enjoyed the poem and the unique set-up gave a nice rhythm to the whole work...as for the use of the word 'prelude' twice in the second stanza, I ask the same question that Isolde pondered,"Was that deliberate?" Also the theme of this poem brings to mind one of Emily Dickinsons' best...I think I will look it up and submitt it...I just LOVE Emily!
And finally, the loss of loss can be equated with growth!

***Donovan, here's the long-awaited astrology insight I
promised:

You are a Libra-Gemini. Your moon is in Scorpio. Your Mars is in Libra. Your Venus is also in Libra. Meaning? You are probably drop-dead gorgeous, assertive, intelligent, passive-aggressive, charming as hell, and you have a lust for life...and chocolate. Sexually, signs indicate that you
are gentle, conventional, and affectionate. So you ain't a
freak. You probably prefer for your women to be articulate,
gutsy, sociable, and idealistic. No bimbos for you.

****Angel, here's yours:

You are a Gemini-Libra. Your moon is in Gemini. Your Mars is in Taurus and your Venus is in Cancer. Do you prefer your men to be the strong silent type? Generally, whatever sign a woman's Mars is in indicates the kind of man she finds attractive. For instance, my Mars is in Capricorn and this is so true- my first love was a Capricorn and I'm crazy about Mel Gibson and Val Kilmer and Neil from MTV's London "The Real World" cast. All those guys are Capricorns.
The only male Taurus celebrities I know of are Billy Joel and Andre Agassi. Do either one of those guys do it for ya? Most male sex symbols are Aries, Leo, or Libra. Go figure.
Your chart indicates that you are a charming, verbal, witty, versatile, perceptive, inconsistent, devious individual who loves hearth and home. Your home is probably pretty cozy. Do you have any antique quilts or an angel collection? My mom has both and she's a Gemini, too.
Gemini, Libra, and Aqarius women are considered the "angels" of the zodiac, coincidentally enough. I don't know about that- I'm an Aquarius and I'm more of a devil. But it seems that we air sign women are the most capable of true, selfless love and sacrifice. That's what I've read, anyway.
Geminis usually have dual letters in their name. Take Marilyn Monroe, for instance. Two M's, two N's, and two R's.
Other famous Gemini women include Judy Garland, Kathleen Turner, and Priscilla Presley. Priscilla was married to a Capricorn (Elvis). Don't marry a Capricorn, whatever you do.

Love,
Misti

(whispering in the back of the room... because I'm breathless)

whew...
I heard somewhere once that Kurt Vonnegut is supposed to have said that you cannot call yourself a WRITER until after your first million words... If that is so, I did a fair chunk of that today...

But on to the poems...

Misti!
wow... You already ARE a writer, million words or not...
As you demonstrate, a WRITER usually "stays"...

julianne...
yes. "damnation" is hell on earth, in THIS life... a life's sentence with love lost...

Angel,
my goodness...
I could FEEL "Net Feast"... The beginning of a hunger that is never sated... That kind of starvation really does SING (a truly inspired metaphor)... Even if it is merely the "blended fare"... So much more is out there...

Isolde...
where are your wonderful haiku? (are you hiding out with heart Song???)

I will look you up on ICQ...
Thanks!

Well, better scoot on home... It is late... (maybe that is why the class is empty!)

Zoe,
I knew you had to be a fire sign! Sure enough, you are. You are a Leo-Sagittarius, like Lucille Ball. You have tons of energy and are definitely an "UP" person. You attract people into your life very easily with your warmth and humor. You are extremely generous and protective of those you love. Were you a tomboy when you were a little girl? Were you into sports? Do you have a fierce temper?
Your best match would be an Aries-Aries, I think. Meg Ryan is a Leo and Dennis Quaid is an Aries. They are one of the
happiest couples in Hollywood.
Leo women tend to be uncommonly beautiful and have a regal bearing, as they are the royalty of the zodiac. There are a lot of Leo celebrities- Madonna, Sean Penn, Mick Jagger, and
Ben Affleck, just to name a few. Leos LOVE the limelight. I
think I must have a Leo moon 'cause I'm a karaoke fool and I'm always the one in my family to make everyone laugh. When I go to clubs I want people to watch me on the dance floor.
Numerologically you are a birth 4. Four and eight are the numbers of fate and karma. I'm a birth eight and name four, so I'm doubly cursed/blessed. According to Linda Goodman (author of Star Signs, a book on numerology), 4's and 8's will achieve the lion's share of fame and fortune in their lifetime. Also, 4's and 8's are attracted to each other in friendship, business partnerships, and romance. Famous 4's and 8's include Don Henley, Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, Pamela Courson (well, she wasn't really famous, I guess- she was Jim's soul mate or whatever), and Sean Penn.
Is Matt's birthday on the 4th, 8th, 17th, 22nd, 26th, or 31st of any month? Just wondering.

Aw Dee, I'll write you a happy poem! It is not hard, would you all believe that it is in the 70's in NY right now? The record high for this time of year was 43 degrees or something, it's like spring!! People are wearing shorts!!

Misti, that's incredible...I'm sure everyone is asking you for theirs, but I'd love mine done too. I don't mind if I'm last...hehe...;-) I'm 12-1-76.

Kevin-
Thanks! I love Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (Slaughterhouse Five is my all-time favorite book) but I'm not sure I agree with his little quote. But it is true that my writing has improved over the years because I've kept at it. I think maybe by the time I've hit the big four O I'll be ready for publication. Then again I might pull an Emily Dickinson and not even mess with it.
Donovan-
I just read The Wall in the May 1998 digest and I was so impressed I printed it out! You should submit more stuff, you've got The Gift!
Angel-
Are you serious??? Your husband is really a Capricorn? Get a divorce, quick! LOL. No, really, I'm sure ya'll have compatible moons or ascendants. I was reading about the Gemini-Capricorn match last night in LOVE SIGNS and I read that even when these two part ways they remain friends, which is rare. Elvis and Priscilla had an amicable divorce, by the way.
But Elvis wasn't the norm, needless to say. The main reason they divorced was because he couldn't handle his fame. I think he always regarded Priscilla as his soul mate. She was "Always on His Mind". LOL!

Shadygirl,
I will research your chart ASAP. This is fun, it takes my mind off my life. One astrology book i highly recommend is LOVE SIGNS by Linda Goodman. The woman was a genius.
For all you skeptics out there, did you know that astrology is the most ancient science? It's even discussed in the Bible, but it predates Christianity. The three Wise Men were astrologers.
Hope you all have a Happy Friday and a scintillating weekend, regardless of what sign you were born under.

Isolde...
When words are all there is... We do cling to "Each Word" as if our existence were embodied there, full of all the meaning we long for...

ZoE-
What can I tell you that I already have not??? "Ripped Petals"... Goodness gracious, you know truths some women never have to learn... How many more lifetimes do you figure to spend in the years you have left?? I want to read all about them...

MeLoDy-
Here, my dear, you will never be alone...
As for your work - I found "Shattered Reason" very touching. A good metaphor, that - the shattered cup of life... Had the cup been emptied first??
Yes, dazzling, even though shattered...
The most mysterious thing to a man = woman...

Hey everyone, Happy Saturday! :-)

Did everyone see Dee dance? Everyone see her wiggle her tooshy? Heehee...;-) Dee, you crack me up!

Misti, aw, thank you so much, for doing my chart. You are so sweet. I totally believe in astrology and all of the inexplicable little wonders of our universe...hell, I intend to be a Reiki Master/massage therapist/holistic head shrinker for a living. It's amazing how one little thing can change your life. I go to weekly meetings with a group for battered and abused women, and the 'head lady', the organizer has what I consider to be a great job. Before meeting her I did not know what I wanted to be in life, and figured I would just fall into the job I have now, which is not a bad one, but would not do my mind or spirituality or real self justice. Wow, I'm babbling today. It's just, sometimes things that seem horrible, or things that happen that turn your life upside down can also be the very thing that triggers you to put things in order. If that makes sense. :-)

ZoE - I am sure you are beautiful, in my mind's eye, you have the most radiant smile...:-)

Romeo - Congrats on the new place!

Well, I have to get going...time to decorate the place for the holidays :-))) and tomorrow is John's b-day...I have to find the perfect gift...yikes! Any suggestions?

Toodles!

(calling after the janitor, who is walking down the hall)

Kirk!

Been so tightly wrapped up in things that I only just now read your ramble...

Congratulations seem unnecessary, for the happiness, indeed the fullness (for love encompasses all), of love is it's own 'reward.' But I am happy for Mo and for you...

I am often told how lucky my wife is to have me... In part, I agree, but there is more to it than that, when you truly focus on who is in your arms, rather than off into the distance of lost, forgotten, or unknown loves. When you focus on the one you are with, living completely in the moment, you are BOTH lucky. The fullness of human existence comes from this.

AND, I find myself more in agreement with what you pose in opposition to Plato. You just never know... The possibilities of love are so infinite and all-encompassing in nature, that it very much is possible for there to be more than the "ONE" for each of us... And some of us may never meet him or her, but when we open up ourselves to the possibilities , and truly seize the opportunities afforded by living IN THE MOMENT, anything is possible... THE ONE may be right under our noses, or in our arms right now... All it takes sometimes is two hearts travelling down the same path...

(btw, the interplay of words and imagery in your submission "the loss of loss" is wonderful... The structure of the poem makes perfect sense in light of the idea that is being shared therein. Just thought I would mention that as well...)

zoe,
thanks for the compliment. it means so much coming from someone whose work i admire so much. i especially enjoyed your "imagination" (november), "where does it hurt?", "bloody lip" (september), "one night in august" (september) and "ripped petals." your poems are so real. i love the way you bear raw emotion (thank god, no sugar coating).

there isn't much to say about me really. i am a 17-year-old aries at the university of south carolina. i was born and raised in a small town on the coast of s.c. i have been dabbling with poetry since i was in the seventh grade, but this is the first time i've shared with anyone other than a few close friends. it kinda like my therapy. i write when i have a lot of stuff on my mind and i feel the need to get some things off my chest. its much better than going around screaming at everybody whenever i have a mood. i am interested in learning about you. i wonder about what the composer of such soul-shaking poetry is like. i am psyched about hearing from you.

p.s. you like misti, too. that doesn't come as a surprise. who wouldn't?

deevah,

thanks for the compliment on "who is he?" thats one of my favorites too. you're pretty lucky to have a husband like that. hope i can sink one that beautiful too (when the time comes, of course) thanx.

Just right quick I want to say that I'm in awe of the compliments for my work. It means a great deal to me that I can touch other people with my words. I've said it before and I'll say it again- I am so grateful for this website. It has enriched my life these past several months. Writing poetry is my therapy. The support you all have given me, the kind words and comments on my poems, has been a tremendous blessing. Thank you.
Shadygirl-
I got your e-mail. I'll be sure to send you a card and a picture! It was great to hear from you!
Here is your chart info:
You are a Sagittarius-Aries, which means you are ruled by the fire element. Sagittarius is a mutable sign (talkative, flexible, thirst for knowledge) and Aries is a cardinal sign (domineering, self-possessed, leadership ability). The fire element trine is made up of Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. People born under a fire sign tend to be outgoing, confident, humorous, passionate, and energetic. Most entertainers are born under a fire sign. Famous fire personalities include Jim Morrison (12/8), Frank Sinatra, Madonna, Sean Penn, Meg Ryan, Lucille Ball, Melanie Griffith, Don Johnson, Robert Plant, Marlon Brando, etc.!
Famous Sagittarians include Kim Basinger (12/8, like Jim Morrison and my daughter, who turns 2 at 6:51 p.m.!), Woody Allen (sorry. oh, well-at least he's talented), and Walt Disney.
You have a lot of "fiery" planets. Your moon is in Aries and your Mars and Mercury are in Sagittarius. Meaning? You are daring, independent, courageous, optimistic, idealistic, energetic, and generous. You demand freedom in a relationship and refuse to be a doormat for any man. Your ideal man is someone who is philosophical, fun-loving, and appreciative of your incredible strength. You have no tolerance for wimps or pretentious, self-absorbed idiots. You desire a man who has substance.
Your Venus is in Capricorn. Do you have a few close friends who you trust with your life? Do you like to decorate in black and white? Do you like to keep it simple? Have you ever sent Brad Pitt a fan letter?
Well, hope I've enlightened you somewhat! I recommend any of Linda Goodman's books (SUN SIGNS, STAR SIGNS, or LOVE SIGNS). If you know the exact hour of your birth you can find out your Rising Sign, which is the first impression you give out to the rest of the world.
I shall return. 'Night, all!

Misti - That was great! Wow! Thank you so much! You hit me right on the nose (ouch!) about the men in my life...and what I want...but NO! I have never sent a letter to Brad Pitt!!! (Although, I think I may have sent one to New Kids on the Block like 10 years ago...hehe...but don't hold it against me...:-( I don't know how daring I am either, because I am a major wuss, I'm all nervous about this trip today. And it's only for two days. Thank you so much for doing mine though! :-) Happy Birthday to your daughter, hun, u ok?

Hi Dee...how r u girl?

I have not been in to check New Submissions at all this month, I have not had the time, and it's killing me!!! I hear everyone saying how great all of them are and I'm missing out...:-( Hopefully when I get back. Or, maybe I'll be able to play with the laptop once I'm up there.

Well, everyone. I don't think I'll be able to get in here again today. Have to work and than catch a plane...yikes!!! (Uhoh, Misti, there goes your 'courageous' theory...haha)

Have a good week everyone! I'll miss you!

I'm finally back home again... This has been such a busy month for me so far! I am way behind on reading the new submissions, but I hope to have some time today to check them out.

Also, I appreciate the compliments on my recent work. I've been having a tough week, feeling misunderstood, so those kind and empathetic words were especially sweet of late.

Hey everyone, me again! I got to go through a few new submissions during lunch!! :-) (I feel so much better with a little dose of lunch for lunch..:-)

Cheer up Isolde… we love you! ; - )

Kevin - "Fulfilled" was so sweet! The line 'blue light from the television' allows so much more of a setting than it explains…very nice…

KatyBeth - Wow! I really liked all of your work that you submitted. I especially liked "Dry Lips" A LOT! It was a very emotional work, with a staccato rhythm, which everyone by now knows I love, because the way it is read puts you in the mind-setting of the writer. But, I feel the question that you kept referring to should have been explained more (but then again, I'm nosey…hehe…;-)

Julianne - "addiction three" very good! I liked how it almost felt that the entire poem ran through your head quickly, like one of the zillion thoughts that travel through your head while 'waiting' for 'him'. The style is nice.

MISTI!!! - "SCRABBLE" GREAT FIRST STANZA!!! Wow…I love the first few lines of this one! I love the whole thing, but the first few lines just grabbed my attention so completely.

Erin - "(STOP)" another good one! You always write what I am feeling, in such a similar style! Very nice!

Dee - "**wild~horse**" Whew! * fanning myself * (need I say more?;-)

MeLoDy - "Crowding My Space" - I liked this one a lot.

I'll try to get to the rest when I get back!

Bye!

JoViTa,
Thanks, the rawness of your poetry is what really caught my eye. I am 16 years old. I live in New York City with my 2 year old daughter Dezire (my baby princess)! I dropped out of school last year and moved out of my parent's house so I could support my daughter on my own. I work 2 jobs, one at a clothing store in Soho called, Diesel and one as an extra secretary (typist) for an attorney. I'm attempting to finish highschool at night. That's pretty much my exciting life....he he! ok......it was kool to learn more about you...

Shady and Deevaa, thanks for your comments! I, like most of us, really love to feel that our heartfelt pieces are appreciated and understood.

By the way, since you're "nosey", Shady: the question was more about how my ex was quite emotionally abusive and that day, like many others, he went nuts on me cuz he thought I tried to look pretty on purpose. He didn't want me to be attractive to anyone. Why I didn't leave him, I don't know. Thats what love does to you, I guess. Now it's all good, though! He's gone.

Just a thought... would you have any way to archive the comments section every couple of weeks? It gets rather long and takes me FOREVER to load up with my connection. Im sure others have noticed this too. You could dispose of the archives after they have been around two weeks... just kind of constantly rotating them. Just a thought, otherwise love the board.

Hey everyone!

I'm back! Back on LI...aaaaahhh! :-) (You have no idea how big that smile is in person!) It was a great trip! I can not even explain what a relief it is to have the first time over with. Of course, I'm back today and have to leave to return in 4 days. But that is the way it will be for the next two years or so, now it seems. But, Buffalo, for those of you who have never been, is gorgeous! The campus itself is beautiful, I can't wait until I really get into my routine and can go out and 'explore' the area when I'm off work.

Anyways, enough about me, I'm sure most of you do not want details (don't worry dee, you'll be getting a huge e-mail:-)

KatyBeth - Girl, I can relate better than you know to your situation. Happy to hear you speaking of 'him' in the past tense though. Some don't understand how hard it is to get away from situations like that. Or the strength it takes to keep yourself on your feet, emotionally and physically. May I ask, how old r u? Where from? E-mail me...if you like. :-)

I didn't know it was heart's birthday!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUN!!! Hope your family made you queen for the day :-) Lord knows you deserve it!

Dee - LOL...if you have so much free time to check into the Blender enough to double the count why is it I had not one e-mail from you waiting for my anxious little eyes? Heehee...;-)

You're very welcome Isolde!

Well, I gotta get going...I am dead tired...
Nice to be home...next time I should have the laptop set up so I can keep in touch while I'm away....:-)

Zoe,
This is a bit belated, but I think it's fine that Matt's a
Leo, too. In my opinion, the best matches are those made with your own sun sign. You understand each other, which is a good thing. The only thing to watch for is a clashing of the wills.
***
Kevin,
Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'll let you know how my first poetry reading goes.
***
Shady,
Thanks for everything. I appreciate your care and concern. On my daughter's second birthday I watched my video of her birth and cried. Her birth father didn't call, her adoptive parents didn't call, but I survived! I can't explain in words the bond that I feel and that is all that matters. We will always be connected and I know that someday she will look me up and we'll have a beautiful relationship.
I wrote fan letters to the New Kids, too! I liked John and Donny the best. And Joe. Joe was adorable.
I'm glad you liked SCRABBLE.
****
Pam,
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you liked Odyssey. May the love you have found endure and grow.
***
Jovita,
Thanks! I was in South Carolina for basic training in '95 and '96.

I'm at the library and my time is up. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy 1999. I don't know when I'll be back again.

Love,
Misti

Jenna,

glad you liked Kamikaze. that was a really personal one for me. feels better knowing i'm not the only one in that position. i really enjoyed "Second Time Around". what we would all give to go back in time.

Katybeth,

i really loved "Leave". Short but accurate. You said it all in just a few lines. i love it.

Misti,

i enjoy all your work, and "Strong Blood" is no exception. i come from a 'strong blood, thick skin' family myself. it seems some fathers don't know that that thick skin doesn't cover the heart. i read what you said about your daughter's birthday. your love for her is beautiful. the best mothers are those who know what is best for their children. your love for her is true and unselfish. i admire that. stay strong.

tia,

bet you never thought you'd see your own poetry here. i know bam has hurt you. just hang in there girl.

zoe,

thanks for sharing a little about yourself. i would have never guessed your age. you are wise beyond your years. i am amazed at your courage. you seem to have faced a lot in life, but you haven't let that stop you. keep going strong (as if i'd expect anything less from you).

i'm out,

vita.

I guess I could see the desire to break this page up, it has been getting a bit out of hand lately. Plus, I'm a little worried about the server space it takes up. Arrowweb (my provider) is brilliant and affordable in every respect, except their a little stingy with the disk space. (Oh, and the FTP is flakey.)

The first version of the feedback page consisted of comments that had been e-mailed to me. (mostly good, a few negative) When I automated the submission process (Spring 1997) I made the coment page automagic as well. I like what it has become, kind of a nexus of a small community, so I'm nervous about changing it too much.

One idea I have is to use compression for archived content, then use readers to uncompress it on the fly. That might not be that difficult, it's mostly a matter of a script and updating the links.

Maybe every couple days I could clear out but save the comments page, and then glue them together for the monthly digest. I have to think of some clever scripts to make sure that doesn't become to much work for me at the end of the month, however...

TGIF!!!!

Misti - Oh hun, I'm so sorry, I know it must be so hard, I can not even imagine the strength it must drain from you. But you are one tough cookie. You are right about the connection though...it is true with anyone who enters your life, obviously stronger with certain people. And those strong connections, although they can be so painful, are also so necessary. Keeps the heart beating, right?

I LIKED ALL THE NEW KIDS!!! Heehee...in turn...mostly Donny though. I still have the concert video at home, but now it is more for amusement than 'drooling' purposes...hehe...and I've stayed in the Wahlberg family because I think Mark Wahlberg is yummy...ever see Boogie Nights...? "Evening's Garden"
"Hop the Fence"
"Delete" - <sigh>

Kevin-
"this hammer, this heart"
"Amazing Grace"
"tender part" - liked this one particularly
"love just is"

heartSong-
"What He Does To Me"

deevaa-

Ria-
"In the Wind" - very nice!
"Nectar"

TK-
"Life as Your Tear" - quite moving

jovita-
"kamikaze"

Mike-
"Stronger Words" - so heartfelt...

Melody-
"Separate Ways"

And finally....

Pat Woodward-
"Unbeing" - WOW!!!! A fabulous poem, extremely well written. Wonderful imagery, and a strong uniting theme. I sincerely hope we see many more examples of your fine work.

Kevin~ "the hurt"...'I simply don't know how not to burn this feeling out of my heart'...was my favorite line.

Sue~"Silence"...loved your multi-use of the word silence, especially'silence that hurts' This poem also had a very nice rythem to it.

TK~ "Life as Your Tear", very creative.

X~ "Paradise",WHEW!!!....also "Flute Song"

Jovita~ "good-bye"...a lesson to be learnt somewhere in there.

Pat Woodard~ "Unbeing",very creative and rymes always make me *S M I L E*

Your poem "Delete" really touched me deeply............
I hope that I am never deleted...

Isolde,

not only does the entire body of your work MOVE and TOUCH me, it resonates within me as if you were writing about ME... How could I not be changed by that?
Isn't that, after all, the mark of artistic expression? Not simply that you capture a truth in this life, and share it with others, but that in the sharing you leave THEM changed...

And thank YOU for being there for ME (by the way)...

Good LORD, Kim, of COURSE there's love at 16!!! Of course, that doesn't mean every crush or feeling of lust is to be mistaken for it, but yes. It does exist. Love isn't something you want to throw around, though. This is the only heart you'll ever have.
Love may be painful sometimes but I'd do it all over again. I am, actually...I've been in love for the second time now and I'm only 18. It's for real...keep up hope and REMEMBER that you are more valuable than you know. Good luck to ya. :)

I'm really, REALLY glad you guys liked my stuff... I'm extremely shy about my work, so I was a little unsure when I first posted. Guess I felt intimidated by all the great poets in here, like you guys... :) Thanks a lot! Your comments were very much appreciated!

Hey everyone, I used to come to loveblender alot, but kindof
fell out of touch. I got a simple question for advice.
I've just gotten out of a relationship, and I'm not
doing to hot. The problem is that I can't write anymore.
I've lost it. I think it's the girl. But when wer first
started going out, that's when I lost it. Does anyone have
anywyay for me to get over this paain and get to where I
can write again. If anyone has any advcie, please share.
Sincerely

Snow...

cry. then just start writing down EVERY little thing that you can think of! write down your hurts, your pain, your happiness, your joy. eventually, those words will turn into poetry, or maybe you will have just become a writer of stories....this is what is happening to me...only a word of advice.

good luck my fellow writer!

Snow-

Just a quick word, friend. Jessie is correct!
You have to let the words out, somehow. You will soon find that they will be bursting to GET out. Then you will have what you are looking for... as far as poetry and other writings....... As far as love? <sigh> That is a tough one for all of us, whether you are IN a relationship (or more than one) or not. Hang in there!

Isolde!

WAKE UP!

KatyBeth...
wow...
Your work is starting to get to me, girl... Keep it up! Like I have said before, if love were easy, it would not be so fulfilling...

Hi

I wont say that I am a new comer to this site b/c I dont know when I will write again. My best friend Jovita submitted my poem I Thought here. I have been reading the comments page over and over and I kind of noticed that nobody had a comment for me. I dont think I am much of a writer so thats why I was kind of uneasy about my friend submitting my poem. Anyway it would do me a lot of good if just one person can tell me what they thought of my poem be it good or bad. It doesent matter just tell me the truth. And if there is anyone out there that can relate to my poem it would do me alot of good to know.

Thanks alot,
Tia

Feel free to email me at latias@yahoo.com or tiazmarie@yahoo.com

From: heart Song

Snow,

I had wondered what happened to you. Before I begin submitting I used to come to the blender just to read it. I'm glad you made an appearance. Thinking about staying around awhile? I find that I right more poetry when I am in a heart breaking situation I use writing as therapy. Some of my best poems came from heart break.

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday, it was a great one thanks!

Hi everyone! I have missed you all!

Tia-

I reread your poem "i thought", and have sent you a lengthy private e-mail commenting on it. It is a nice poem, very sincere and poignant. I hope you keep submitting.

Hey, Isolde.. that was for you... *winks* and as for "Whispers" hmmm... very nice... indeed. (btw I think you owe me an email there seems to be something in your poetry that you haven't told the deevaa babe....)

Meg, "Takecare" ohhhh.... nice.. the lines about rubbing his goatee and running your fingers on his lips, what a beautiful mental picture I have with me now.. thankyou!

"X", "The scent of you" again another BEAUTIFUL mental picture... and what memories it brings... thanks..

Kirk "YAT" *giggles* and Heartsong.. you gonna be under my Christmas Tree too??? *Runs out of the room laughing*

Later you all... oh and email me...

From: Isolde

I'm all caught up and back in a commenting mood...

Samantha-
"The First" - nice use of language, a very sweet poem

anonymous-
"do you love me?" - a good effort at a rhyming and metered poem (which I personally consider more difficult to work with than "free verse")

Meg-
"Take Care" - liked the line 'erasing lush night pictures from my mind'

Kirk-
"YAT" - the mighty YAT indeed! I have such a weakness for haiku (and with kisses yet!)...

Christine-
"On the Wings of Twilight" - excellent title and a beautiful image

rsd-
"When Love Dies" - a keen observation about the death of love, it reminds me of a quote from some film I have since forgotten the title of: "Why is it that we never seem to know the exact moment that love begins, but we always know when it ends?"

KatyBeth-
"Which do you love?" - Nicely done! The two contrasting images were well defined and the layout of the words on the page emphasised the contrast. I liked this poem very much.

HeY gUyS,
I haven't been checking in much ,because i'm moving and wrapping presents and packing! ahhhh.... but i saw a question written by kim who asked if there was love at 16 and taht totally hit home!Love at 16 is really strange (i am 16) and i acn say it is certainly deceiving. for instance my daughter's father i think was my first love....at the time we started dating i was 14. By the time I was pregnant i was 15...nevertheless the guy went out the door practically the minute the pregnancy test showed a plus sign. In that occasion there was heartbreak at 15. My baby is true love to me....so yes,I am 16 and i am full of true love for my child! Also,do not deny yourself love and romance at 16 (your 16 right?) just watch out for guys who preach true love and don't act accordingly! (My advice for the day) and definately LOVE! love is the best thing for anyone! I miss everyone! write me!

Hey everyone!

How is everyone doing? :-)

Snow - I say don't force it. You obviously feel writing is your outlet, but the fact that you are blocked may be telling you you need a little more comfort than a piece of paper, a pen, and your thoughts. But if you are like me, too independent, instead of trying to put your thoughts into any kind of form, just try writing them down Dear Diary style. To yourself, to the person you are thinking of. Whatever pops in your head ends up on paper, and you'll be surprised how uch you'll learn about yourself. Then burn it, keep it, shred it. Kind of like a dam, once you crack it, it all comes pouring out. Just give it time, it always comes back to you, and stick to your buds if you need more. Hope you are feeling better.

Kim - Love at 16? Certainly. But what is more important is exploring your own emotions, and feelings and reactions to those in your life. I think it depends on the person, some may not be capable of something as mature as love at 16. Instead of asking is it possible, just ask yourself if you feel it. Otherwise you may get trapped in the 'should be's' and 'supposed to's 'of life.

I did not fall in love for the first time until I was 19. I was not emoitonally ready before that. (I still don't think I am...hehe) I think it varies and depends on the person.

Ugh, that was Shady's two cents for the day...geez, I am gone for days and I come back preaching...sorry...:-(

I missed you all! I miss the Board so much! I will try to read some more new submissions, even though I am weeks behind, and have not had a moment to sit and write something myself...

Kev - where's that e-mail hun? :-(

Love you guys!

Thank you for your kind remark in regards to "On The Wings of Twilight". It has been sometime now, since I was last here, life sometimes gets busy - ya know? And it's been ages since last posting something here. It's nice to get feedback, and I appreciate your taking the time. :)

Snow:
Hey there! It's been some time since I last heard from you, and I am sorry to hear that things are not as you imagined. As for writing, I believe when written from the heart, when the mood or time or place strikes you, then you will again write. I (well at least my experience -the old maid I am!)find that when I am at my best, is when it comes naturally, but like others here, agree, that sometimes to find a moment, quiet, undistracted, and just begin to write what it is you are thinking, feeling helps. Sometimes, suddenly, the words come. I wish you well my friend, truly, that your heart heals, and the pain you find yourself in now, is with time eased by the love, smiles and friends around you.

And to the rest of you all ~ I have enjoyed what I have seen here, for the young, younger, old and older, much talent can be found within the "pages" of the blender. How refreshing and wonderful to see.

Wishing you all the things your hearts and worlds desire this Holiday Season.

I don't know if I told you but I'm moving to Connecticut over after New Years and most likely selling the computer (we need the cash)I never thought it'd be so hard for me to sell a computer but i've become so attached to it since i met you guys online! Most everything in our house is packed except for dez's little crib/bed. We've been sleeping in in the living room(the center of our household) i'm in a sleeping bag and we have the computer and t.v. on the floor. These are the only things that aren't packed really so that shows our main interests embarassingly (going online and watching t.v.)Dez is so excited, because everything's cleared out of the apartment so there's all this free space for her to run around and slide around in. She's a crazy girl. I bought her some christmas striped tights to wear and she's running around the house yelling I am a christmas tree stocknin' (that's how she says it.)! what a nutty girl i raised (takes after her mommy i see)! well...*hugs*

Merry Christmas! I have really been out of circulation, but hey! It's Christmas and I have been such a good girl that Santa has brought me and my kids our very own computer at home! Yeah! No more waiting to get to work, no more standing in line to use my sons webtv! I have been liberated! Free at last Free at last! Last Sunday I was in a car wreck, I flipped the car. It was a pretty bad wreck, but the Good Lord was with us and no one was hurt too bad, some small cuts and alot of bruises and soar muscles. I only went to work on Tuesday and since then we have been having some pretty bad weather and we have been iced in since. I have missed all my friends at the blender and I would like you to know that you have all been in my thoughts. I hope you all have a very very Merry Christmas! Lots of Love!

Call a truce, then, to our labours- let us feast with friends and neighbours,
And be merry as the custom of our caste;
For if "faint and forced the laughter," and if sadness follow after,
We are richer by one mocking Christmas past.

It's been a long long time since I've last written a remark, or even looked at it. I'm sorry. Christmas is a time of memories and traditions. Baking, presents, egg nog, love, and joy. But I watch the snow fall (sleet actually) and wonder how cold it gets without and withing. Thank you everyone for writing and trying to help.
Someone once told me that time heales everything. I found out they lied. Happy new year everyone. And may this Christmas and Yule have given you everything you need.
Happy Holidays.

Isolde-

Thank you for your kind words... Both of those poems are very close to my heart...

As for YOUR work:
"Grand Passion" is quite moving... It strikes a chord within me because I see myself, and those closest to me reflected there... Yes, that kind of passion IS real, and it is what makes us feel MOST alive, and makes life most worth living...

Your latest haiku for this day (esp. "Impediment" and "Another Straw")are very poignant and moving... I believe you capture truths here that exist for many of us in our relationships (at least I know it holds true for me).

Thank you...

Angel-

The imagery of "A Ray of Light" is marvellous to me. The singular truth in the paradox you show in this poem exists most deeply for those of us who are in love... The paradoxes that exist in our hearts have always fascinated me, and you have given me a wonderful insight into my own heart yet again with this poem. The paradox that the brightest hopes seem to spring from the darkest despair is an undeniable truth of the heart.

Here's a freaky thought... Along the lines of all this millenium stuff...

Think about this:

The first ACTUAL year of the 21st century is 2001, NOT 2000 (and NO, this is not an invention of science fiction).
Why?
Simple.
The years are not numbered starting at ZERO are they???
THEREFORE, the first year of the FIRST millenium was 1, right???

Und so weite...

(Actually, the years all got jumbled up there between B.C. and A.D., if you know your history... So who can really say WHAT millenium we are on??? And the logical conclusion of this whole line of reasoning is... <?> )

That should be a good snack-food for thought today...

Auf wiedersehen...

Kevin:
Re: 2000 vs. 2001 for the new millenium.
Up until this year, I was a big believer in the "2000" is the new millenium. Considering that we didn't keep track of time this way 'til CENTURIES after year 1, and that even then it's off by its supposed starting event by a good couple of years, we might as well say the first century had 99 years only, and celebrate the big rollover that's making us have to get new checkbooks that don't say 19__.
But after getting spooked by the Y2K bug (see my September 1998 Ramble- but I'm much more relaxed now) I decided to cast my lot with the 2001 crowd, simply because I'm going to be much calmer partying 2000 December 31 than I will have been the year before.
The biggest problem with this partying is I feel there's NOTHING I can do that will be big enough to mark the change of a century, much less the passing of a millenium. It's just too much bigger than a human lifespan to deal with.

Kev - I know I know, that's what everyone keeps saying about the new millenium, but I just don't feel like waiting until 2001 to celebrate the new millenium, because it is the year 2000!!! Par-tay...I think that is exciting...not to mention extremely scary considering the Y2K thing...eeek! :-)

Where is everyone...dee? You around? Or still recovering from all that food on Christmas? ;-)

Kirk,

Please tell me the secret to calming yourself down about the Y2K thing...the more I learn the more freaked out I get. I feel like the only 'facts' out there to read, are the opinions of editorials, and all I want are some real hard facts...please tell me you know something I don't...(I read your Ramble, again yesterday as a matter of fact, but you say you are much calmer now, just wondering if it is due to more research on the subject...)

Thanks,

My current take on Y2K:
I'm definitely not the end-all be-all of Y2K thought- or anywhere close. I really wouldn't be comfortable with anyone basing any Y2K preparation (or lack there of) based on my perceptions. That being said, here's why I'm a little more relaxed:

* This might sound like spurious reasoning, but none of my friends-- including old comp sci profs, former managers, techie and business related friends, people whose opinion I respect very much and who are very smart in their fields-- are anywhere near as nervous as I was.

* The flip side of that is many of the warning voices have some kind of agenda. The loudest voices come from those who have something to gain from hysteria (book sales, gold to sell, political agenda) and survivalists who have been looking to vindicate their "get the heck out of the cities" views for years. And many of these people understand where a technical problem *could* happen, but have a poorer understanding of the backup and fallback plans that are already in place for run-of-the-mill failures.

* I've been hearing that things aren't as bad as expected for utilities. And utilities were the core of most of the nightmare, "Mad Max" scenarios.

* Friends have pointed out that there are *plenty* of things to worry about out there, the world is a dangerous place, with terrorists and people fiddling with viruses and a dozen other ways to meet an untimely end. Y2K is unique in having a hook date, thus letting all my fretting tie itself up into a big bundle.

* We get through lots of smaller disasters all the time. Big parts of the South have been without electricity for days. San Francisco went without as well. While these are localized, I think the system works around and recovers from outages and problems all the time.

* With all of that said, I think some level of economic stutter is likely. But that's not the kind of thing that keeps me up at night. Which also ties into the idea that I personally have less to worry about that people who have families and mortgages…

In any event, just 2 or 3 more days til the third Y2K-related critical date rolls around… systems that do look-aheads of a year will find their challenge Friday. (2000-01-01 is far from being the only date where problems are likely) We've already passed two dates that marked the start of fiscal years for Federal and State governments, with no disruption of services.

So, that's where my thoughts are now… sorry for the long, non-romance or poetry related comment…

He comes out at night
full moon so bright
with wide eyes open
he looks to the sky
with luring red lips
tonight someone will die

he will start up a war
he will bite the old whore
he will kiss her goodbye
smile as she die

over hundred years of living
over thousand souls were given
he drank the angels blood
immortal down the crowd

he will start up a war
he will bite the old whore
he will kiss her goodbye
smile as she die

he fucks when he's stoned

Nice website. Found it in my attempt to seek comfort from a recent blunder of the heart i guess you could say. I wrote the poem "Winter Day Dreams" for her. Funny how things can look so bright and a storm will a seeminly apear out of no where to rain on your picnic. I still do not know what happened. I find myself thinking what I could have done differently and I come up blank everytime. I guess the best way I can describle it (a typical guy analogy) is the look of a football team that just somehow lost the game of their life in the last seconds of the game. Oh well, there will be other games to play and hopefully win.

I think that there needs to be stories of two people deeply in love, but who are forced to be seperated by distance

From: Isolde
Date: 30 December 1998

In response to the immediately previous post.....

If you read the poetry here, I think you will find that a fair bit of it is about EXACTLY that topic....two people deeply in love, yet separated by distance. Almost all of my poems are on that theme, and several of the regulars and others have also written poems on this topic. If, however, you are searching for "stories" only, you might need to surf around to some different sites, as this site tends to have a much higer percentage of poetry.

Carmen-
"A moment too late" - I liked this haiku. It conveyed a clear image with brevity.

Tristan-
"Phantom Caress" - I probably shouldn't comment on his work, but I will anyway...I loved this one darling...

Evan Snider-
"I Have a Garden" - Very sweet and nicely written with beautiful imagery. I also found it very romantic that it was from a husband to a wife (in an apparently long-standing relationship), showing that the romance doesn't have to disappear as the years pass...

Tonya-
"Innocent" - I liked the first stanza quite a bit, very nice!

Well, there it is, my last comment for the month...
