Hope Intervals

Out of the corner of my eye,
   I see him walking.
For a moment, my eye catches her
   Walking next to him.

They walk with their hands at
Their sides, lightly brushing up
Against one anothers.
   Their fingers touch anticipating
       The moment
When one will grab the others.

She stares at him
With admiration in her eyes
Like how he used to always
Look at me.

Finally our eyes met.
The feeling returns to his eyes,
And a new one could be found in mine.
It feels as though nothing had changed.

For a split second we both knew
It was there.
   I could feel it,
And I knew, he could see it.

In that moment I could see her ease
her hand into his.
     His reaction was quick
She stared at him as he watch me walk away.

I wished he would have run after me,
but only for a split second.
