A Night on the Boulevard

It was the first time
   I had ever told you
  How i really felt.

We stood on the boulevard
   Under the streetlight.
In the streetlight
   I could see,
      Every pore of your skin
     The magic in your eyes
      Your temples pulsate
     Your hair find a home
       Resting upon your ears.

You seemed so open, so free, so willing.
   You were so beautiful.
As i leaned into kiss you,
  I heard your breath quicken.
     You pulled me closer.

As you took me to the ground,
I grew less and less fonder
of the streetlight,
     That shown down on us,
     Through the night,
     On the boulevard...
