Heart Trouble

how can my heart still
    bubble over
  with good & evil
 when you say
         those words
   and look
         those looks?
  my heart is retarded
  my heart is not
      catching on
  it was broken
     shattered
  scattered to the wind
    by your merciless honesty
          and still
        it whispers
   The Battle is Not Over
   There is Still Time
   He'll Surrender
   He'll Wave That White Flag
   He Will, He Will!
      my heart puts
    dreams & fantasies
       in my head
my heart plants memories
       in my moist dirt
    my heart bleeds
  and pretends
      not to notice
my heart dances itself into delirium
my heart burns and sends you
           smoke signals
will you do me a favor
      and do something dumb
so that my heart can see itself
      in the mirror
      and run away
    shrieking?
