seeds

seeds for too long
the emotional ground in my heart lay fallow
though the sun and the rain fell upon it as
equally as anywhere close by
it produced nothing
not even the weeds of discontent
my heart was in an emotional land bank that
had stopped receiving its subsidy
then suddenly someone sowed the seed
the right seed
the one that has grown into a poetic tree
like the one I had chopped down in
my youth - no lie
you, my friends
continue sowing those creative seeds within me
keep me in my growing season
keep me from that empty place
keep me aware of the love
waiting for me to yield to it
