Too Good to Be True

If I were to find that you are what I really am wanting
I’m not sure I would know what to do with you
I have always settled for those who seem “too good to be true”
Only to discover later that they aren’t true
But I think I knew that from the beginning
How would I know if you fit the same shoe?
I would only be waiting for the truth to be revealed
And the perfect parts of you would go completely unnoticed
So even if I were to find what I really am wanting
I don’t think I would know it
I guess wounds can heal, but the scars remain
And remind me of what was “too good to be true.”
