Vessel of Love

In my heart I feel them start to wrestle;
A new desire found once-strong passion slipped.
When love is sure, the water of this vessel
Runs out, dries up, or worse, is over-tipped.
My wetess, then my salty tears dry up.
New love pours in with a water-bearer
To fill my hollow vessel cup by cup.
O please don't raise your cup to me in error!
Why must inconstancy be with me? 'Tis
All these longings I want to be above.
And yet, still all that I am craving is
To swim out in the ocean of your love;
By pulled by tidal forces, rocked by waves,
And if the cost is drowning, I'll be saved.
