a wish

loneliness just breeds it's own confusion
casting darkened shadows on my stage
love has left a string of tangled phrases in my ears
and makes my heart bleed ink across the page

it has not always seemed so futile
i've worn love's crown upon my brow
placed there by sweet gentle spirits that were somehow drawn away
if they only knew how much i miss them now...

it's all been said before by others
better men with better pens than mine
i'm just another lover with too many dying dreams
who's held some stars and hoped to help them shine

to each who's loved me i owe so much
without them, i would be nothing
they've given me support when i have lost my way
they've each sewn feathers in my wings

i hope that one day i will see them
each with a smile upon her face
i'm not the only one that matters in my life
true love can never be erased
