Affair in my Mind
Looking at you makes me realize how futile it is
to try and endure a relationsip through college.
Cause there are days I want to walk by and drop my number casually by your desk so maybe you will call
and we could discuss what you see in Faulkner's works
cause I am more a fan of Hemingway
and I really think Faulkner could have come up with a few originial characters instead of using the same ones over and over.
And we could talk about how much you hate the Greek system
and the bar scene
and girls with the miraculously enhanched cleavage
and maybe I noticed you didn't like sorority girls much
cause I stopped wearing my letters to class these days
but they don't really fit me anyway.
And maybe you write poems too
and we could sit on that bench in the sun on the commons area
and share
and compare
and dare I imagine such things as I compose this lying on my lover's bed?
Seems foreign and exotic and so do you.
