take 5

i cast myself in black white director's cuts of famous films from yesteryear
with satin jazz, electric
as the background tunes
billie belting out her soul and drifting low to sighs
catch her eyes
i know that even dying would be peaceful in her songs
making eyes at gretta just to make miss audrey jealous
monks twisted melodies floating from the other room
all the fellas a dangerous blend of charming
all the dolls alluring and alarming
i'm decked in technicolor, though
contrasting as it mingles, working slowly
through the corners of the scene
touching nearly everything
and changing it to modern day destruction of a dream
