Your Honest Gaze

Your eyes vomit raw sentiment.
I wade in a sticky mess of a silent truth that
spoken words could never properly articulate
and I want to dive straight through the source
walk the miles of your mind
warm myself in your inner sunshine
and absorb the bone deep shadows that keep
your lips stationary.

I want to release every complexity
And become your simple woman
Rediscover childhood summer sunsets
In your arms, the fading warmth that
Washes your limbs for long cool nights
Full of stars and twinkling green flies.
Lie in grass and feel the Earth race Mars.

You are everything I need.
The innocence I never had
Trapped
in an all but jaded fire.
I am not an innocent maiden
I did not drop my kerchief
My arms are strong enough but
they will never wound themselves around my body
and content me the way yours could.
I do not need saving or protection
from dragons or cowboys,
perhaps from just a secret turmoil I hide
that you unknowingly appease with
your honest gaze.
