Hearts Are Never Prepared

I was tangled in torment

Despair and in fear

It was the word goodbye

I was not wanting to hear

Confused with no ending

Will the closure be near

Goodbyes always scare me

As I dry another tear

Clinging to the forever

Why now bring me change

To me forever meant always

My heart won’t re-arrange

My heart can’t break the bond

Strong willed I question why

I struggle through the silence
I fear the word goodbye

Tears begin obscuring vision
Hearts are never prepared
Fearing goodbye from someone
That my heart had lovingly shared
