Make The Time

You know what you have to do,
where you have to be,
what is expected of you
by all and sundry---
but dammit
make the time for me.

Make the time to brush the hair from my eyes,
to touch me as I pass,
so I know
you know I'm there.
Make the time to kiss me for no reason,
except that it feels fine
and tells me I'm not furniture.

Make the time to love me,
think of me laughing,
dancing,
or holding you close to my heart
and speaking your name
so low
that only you can hear.

Make the time to treasure me,
just a little,
so I'll know I'm not wasting my time,
or yours
Kisses cost nothing.
Embraces are also free
But If I'm truly what you need,
You'll find a way
to make time for me.
