Christmas Peacekeepers

Doesn't have to be much
you know i never expect much
anyway.
But i'm sitting here in
the crossroads
somewhere in the snow
and rain
remembering, pondering
this lingering pain.

Over the puddles
for just one cuddle
would make it all right.
but I know a lump of coal
will suit me just right
no more kisses
no more presents
no more wishes
this Christmas night.

I laugh outside
when i'm crying within
no, that's just not me
but i'll reserve my piece
after decorating the tree.

no stockings
no jammies
no family this time
just me and a thousand
of my closest friends
drinking our memories away.
