Rain in a Well

he's a coin rubbing of Christ
he's a piece of paradise
I've seen him with my heart
but never with my eyes
I don't want to pray
I don't want to fall
I'm not the one to scale
his wall
but if he should call
if I could hear
his voice
I know I wouldn't
have
much choice
already I'm in love
with his words
and the images
they create
I would be more careful
but it's too late
I hate to think
how fast
my heart would race
if I ever met him
face to face
too much too soon
but so delicious
I hope he reads
this poem
and gets
suspicious
