What I Would Do
Oh love--
I see me wrapped in an old cotton sheet
Lying beside you
offering apple slices
bits of cheese---
popping grapes in your mouth
holding them lightly between my teeth
and laughing
as you try to steal one.
I feel my hands on your neck,
loosening the tight spots,
hearing you sigh
and go easy beneath my touch.
I see your eyes light with pleasure
when I laugh,
and when I see your features
go suddenly serious
I know I'm in for the kissing
of my life
and the damned phone can just ring
and the world can just wait.
For now I am yours...
oh yes.
