Can It Be?

Can it be considered
a whirlwind romance?
A few months of pulling
all nighters online, talking
about everything and nothing.
Phone calls lasting hours
just listening to each other
breathe, breaking the silence only
when a thought strikes us.
E-mails to fill a book
with the less than
simple niceties of 'how
was your day...mine was
ok but I missed you' that
people so often take for
granted.

Can it be considered
a great courtship?
Ten days, slipping by too
quickly, memorizing every
nuance of personality that
appears while you teach me
to fish. Nine nights, Time
too cruel to slow down, as
you teach me things about
my body, my wants, my needs
that I didn't know
were there. Trying to
memorize every touch, taste,
scent, feeling, whisper, to
fully examine when there is better
opportunity.

Can it be considered
a rushed affair?
You're picking out houses
and asking me to move.
I'm tearing out my hair
and going through boxes of kleenex
trying to make it work
financially, while trying
to rationalize how real and
deep these feelings possibly are.

Can it be considered
a perfect match?
So I'm no Cinderella
and you're no Prince Charming,
but BABY, you can write my
fairytale anytime!
