Goya's Dreams

I see her in my mind's eye.
casually comfortable amidst perfume and pillows
utterly at ease with her skin
eyes sultry and tranquil
with a look that says
I know you want me, Mortal...

And now I am seeking
that same moment with skin and soul
the mottled mirror
I always saw myself in
has shattered
leaving in it's place
something new---
a face I almost know,
a body I do not hate,
oh this lady I like---
and I want to show her off
like Goya's Gal---

Enough of hiding the fire
beneath a modest smile,
Enough of pretending
that passion is for youth
who barely understand
what it can be.

I want to blaze forth
let the inside bubble out---
explode into the eye
with the subtly of gale force winds.
Spirit Elemental,
Nature unleashed
naked in my own glory

The fruit will never be this sweet,
the skin never this soft
and the eyes will beckon
long after all the rest is dust---
That was Goya's dream---
and now it's mine as well.
