need their rituals and talismans and superstitions
to get them through haunted toilet tornado siren weekends
and so last night/this morning sucked
because you got fucked up
and I got pissed
I never thought it would be easy
and I'm not queasy
I'll take the drama
with the dream come true
and I'll be Brenda and Kelly for you
and sometimes Branden
and sometimes Steve
and sometimes Nat
if you can believe
I'm quick with the jokes
and Cherry Cokes
aren't you grateful you've got a pyschosomatic schizophrenic
girlfriend who sympathizes with Laura Palmer and Blanche DuBois?
I'm grateful I've got a boyfriend who doesn't sugarcoat the truth
I'm grateful you chose to take me own knowing what you knew
there is comfort in that
and so this afternoon
I bought a bottle of 99 cent emerald green nail polish
to make our dream more real
I will steal
I will work three jobs I hate
I will pawn my TV and stereo
I will rob a bank
whatever it takes
I'll meet you there
and storm all of Oz with you
and we will laugh so hard
they will think we're tripping
on acid
