HERoism

it must have been hard walking
with me clinging to your coat-tails
poor baby, having to pull me along
behind your stoic form
and you, the trooper that you are,
just trudged right along
ignoring the excess baggage whimpering
near the bend of your knees
you, Sir, deserve a medal of honor
cos that was downright honorable of you
not to kick too much sand from your shoes
into the face of disgrace that i had become
just trying to hold on to that part of me
which i mistakenly thought was still there
but had been erased by you long ago
my tears yearning to soften the ground you put between us
and your indifference drying them right up
my arms outstretched with my heart cupped in one hand
your back stabbing me over and over again!
my pleas
your cool shoulders
my declarations
your silence
my agony
your, "just another dizzy blonde at my feet day"
and just as you were about to turn the corner of 'HEoism'
i was slapped with some dignity
right off your tail
so quick and so sure that you fell headlong and sidewise
right smack onto your ugly face
due to the sudden correction of balance in justice
and also due to your shock of all the treasure lost in that out-bound baggage
the look on your face would haunt me if i gave a damn!
