Lover and a Friend
I believed it when you told me our love would last forever,
Why were we so cruelly torn apart? Why aren't we still together?
I know that I love you - 3 words so small,
I think of our love and the tears fall.
I know you're with me whether in my head or by my side,
So my fear of loneliness i shall hide,
My heart lies broken you shattered it when you went,
But i shall never forget the love we shared and the time we spent.
Your voice carries on the wind to my ears,
Your hands reach out and wipe away my tears,
I stare out to sea and toss my thoughts to the air,
I reach out for you but you're not there.
I'd catch the colours in my tears for you,
I'd catch my love like rain on a spiders web for you,
I'd paint the the stars in the sky and the early morning dew,
But birds wouldn't sing and flowers wouldn't open without you,
I don't want to live my life without you; i don't want to try,
You were the light in my life and the sun in my sky,
Without you there as my lover and friend,
No the moon wouldn't rise and the day wouldn't end.
