wild moon

i ran
you ran after me
chasing the fireflies
with the warm night
brushing our sweaty foreheads

we stripped our clothing off
as we ran along, catching
the little glowy bugs as
our laughter carried us

we could hear the crickets
chirping just beneath
the soles of our feet
and tickling our arches with their legs

i wanted to rub my legs together
and sing to you, call to you
i wanted to be your moonbeam
princess you came across in a field

i saw the moon before i saw you
and stopped, in my ....tracks....
seeing her face in the moon
and his next to it...intertwined.

so here we are, with fireflies in our fists
and dirt and grass in our toes
and our naked bodies bathed in moonlight
as we stand like two wild children
