Remember

Remember those things that made you happy- how long ago?
Dare to stick with what you believed about love,
Cherish the time allotted you in the presence of your children.
Protect them from the ravages of selfishness while you still can…
Look deeply into their innocent eyes and remember what you see,
For memory is weak in the presence of desire and lies are strong webs.
Be satisfied that you have found someone to love you, someone to hold you,
For some in their searching have indeed found love, but cannot have…
Fate is not always kind with her fickle favors, love does not always win,
Sometimes the desire is strong, but we are weakened by despair and our prayers…
Rise but not high enough.
So when you have and want more, think of those who have not and have to live anyway,
Don't be so damned jealous and greedy with what you have been blessed with.
For surely I say unto you- even that which you have may be taken from you,
And all that will be left are the ashes from a fire that burned so hot, so quick…
That you never even felt the death that you took so willingly.
