Secret of the Rose

My dearest friend,

As you gaze upon the subtle, velvet curves of my beauty...

Remember....

I guard a secret within the cold confines of my steel

But I will share...with you alone.

I trust you, my love...else this  secret (as much as it yearns for light)

Would remain locked tight within these unyielding steel petals.

You see...I have known pain.

Pain so deep that my soul cries out for mercy.

In order to arrive at this place, in this time,

I was torn asunder from the very source of my life...my  sustenance.

I was butchered by hands so calloused as to seem cruel.

I was carried by arms so cold as to seem as ice.

I was manipulated by hands with no compassion; the harbinger of my death.

But, my dearest friend, I stand proud!  Right Here, Right Now

For the purpose of bringing you a moment of Joy...Ecstasy...Love

For a lesser soul may have remained hidden; allowing the pain to conquer the light.

But, you see, I am a Rose.

I have a secret to share with you....you alone.

As you gaze upon the opening petals, watch ever so closely.

Don't miss the fact that every layer is ever so new...ever so tender.

Ever so beautiful to the sunlight of life.

When I am fully open; every nerve exposed to your gaze...

Remember as you look...the secret of my being is ever so precious...

For you,...You alone

Listen very closely my love.

Pain may scar the surface...

But the deeper the pain, the more petals I can accumulate.

They protect my soul,

But it is only when I open my petals,

And expose my soul to the light of day, that all pain is transcended.

You see...

I am a Rose......

But you must know....

I am your Personal Rose.

And I know the secret steel pain is safe with you...

Ever so safe with you.
