Just Because its Summer...
Because its summer
and the sunshine is pure
and makes my skin feel more loved than any man could
I can gorge myself wholly
on all sorts of sinful treats
Cookie Dough Blizzards
UV rays
bare feet
and you
With your smile and eyes and tempting tongue
With secrets so far beneath the surface
With danger written in between the lines
and no security
but I never knew this to be the season for safety
but more for taking risks
because you will always know
you are loved
under a full summer moon
whether anyone is there to share it with or not
and along with bees and pollen and cool summer showers
the air carries promise
that no one is alone
that someone else is looking
Devil-may-care smiles
short skirts reveal my legs
and my intentions
and there is bare skin to brush
enough heat to catch even a few smouldering embers aflame
I feel ignited
I feel new and beautiful
I feel smiles all over
I thought it was because of you
but maybe its just because its summer.
