aborted prelude to happily ever after
over the phone he details
a sexual fantasy he'd like
to try
with me
"gives banana split a whole new meaning," I say
and he laughs
tells me I'm pretty
on the inside
and beautiful
on the outside
and he wants to pick me up
and spin me
around
and he'll take me on a road trip
to Mexico or Las Vegas
or New York City
and we'd make Beautiful Babies
and he'll retire in ten years
and I could stay home
and raise the babies
and write poems and novels
all of this in two
telephone conversations
a lifetime together and we've
never
even kissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
