SCENE 53

SCENE 53-INT.-Adonis's den. Day.
Adonis is sitting in a director's chair.
Becca is pacing the floor.
Music: "When Push Comes to Shove" by Grateful Dead
Adonis: This is pretty farfetched, even for you.
Becca: Yes or no? I need to know right now.
Adonis: What's your rush? Relax. Sit down. I'll bring you
a beer.
Becca: I don't need a beer! I need five hundred dollars.
Adonis: Why can't I come? I haven't been to Vegas since they
opened that new Paris casino.
Becca: Because this isn't going to be "Fear and Loathing in
Las Vegas"! No drugs. No drama.
Adonis: Timothy Leary was still dropping acid when he was an old
guy.
Becca: Don't exhaust me with the details. The answer is still a
firm and final no. I'll send you a postcard.
Adonis: I want a t-shirt that has the Eiffel Tower on it.
And a kiss.
Points to his cheek.
Becca gives Adonis a quick peck on his cheek.
Adonis hands Becca a paperback copy of *On the Road.*
Becca opens the book and finds ten crisp hundred dollar bills.
Adonis: Consider it an early Christmas present.
Becca: I feel like such a whore.
Adonis: Go take a shower. You'll get over it.
Becca laughs and gives Adonis a hug.
