A Flower Grows

A seed is planted in the ground
With no fanfare and nary a sound
Sprinkled with water, rays of sunshine
A few kind words, and then with time
Carefully tended you wait for the show
That is how a flower grows

Pink, red, blue, green, or white
Straight and sure, a wonderful sight
Oh, so beautiful and soft to touch
A joy to behold, it pleases much
From a seed to a sprout everyone knows
That is how a flower grows

One day the garden is full, not overgrown
Happiness to you now clearly is shown
A gem, a jewel, rare gift from above
Forever is it's name, the bloom called love
Fresh, radiant, even after the snows
And that is how a flower grows
