breaking on the shore

her harbor
weakens
it had no boats
roped and rocking
splashing layers
repainted catchwords
bi-names of
lovers or children
her harbor has
no circles surrounding circles
no rippling reflections
of bright cotton shirts
or aphoristic koozies
her jetty reaches out
to nothing now
the unknown
she covers her eyes
in shades
of white lies
to answer the questions
her heart asks
demandingly so.
