Beyond Compare

(For Marie)

I wish I could contrast you to something nice or fair.
I do not start and I shant dare,
because you are just simply beyond compare.

What if I compared you to a gold bar?
Your beauty encompasses it by far.
You are far more special and precious than gold,
and warm my heart when everything else is cold.
When I look at you on my face grows a smile.
Happiness...something gold can't give you,
even if you stare at it for a while.
You shine so much brighter than it.
Gold can't compare to you, not one bit.

You often wonder why instead of looking at you I stare,
and why I often smell your hair.
It's because you're simply beyond compare.

What if I compared you to a lovely song?
I would miss the sound of you more if my hearing was gone.
The sound of your voice is beautiful as is the song,
but I get to hear it noon, night, and at dawn.
You touch a part of my heart like songs should,
but after a while songs tend to not feel as good.

You mean the world to me,
and you are everything I've ever wished someone who loved me would be.
I swear as long as I shall live,
you will receive all the love that I have to give.

And when I die and the angels ask me what it was I liked best down there,
I will tell them it was you...
because you are simply beyond compare.
